Mount Vernon was is an important national historic site because it is where George Washington (our first president) lived with his family. A few examples of special places are his bed (where he died in his bed on December 14, 1799),the beautiful, sparkling Potomac River next to the east front of the mind blowing mansion. Last, he used to have an 8000 acre farm! (Right now we can only see 600 acres of land.)Mount Vernon is located in Virginia, the North East region.
